The Project
of our Generation

Making a big idea, one thought at a time

ProG

Wait, what is this?

How does this generation shape society? Hoping you would find the answer here? Sorry - we don’t know either. We are on the hunt for the project of our generation. ProG is an incubator to stimulate that explorative journey. Here we develop stepping stones towards change: good ideas, deep inspiration and the occasional initiative.

With all our actions and non-actions, we shape society. We know what generations before us left behind: the peace movement of 1968, the post-war reconstruction; we know what they stood for, and what they achieved. What will people say when they look back at what our generation did? What do we believed in and what can we stand for? Well, we are here to find out – and to deliver.

What once was just a meeting of friends and minds, we are becoming an ever-growing community with a great variety of people, looking for ways to purposefully use the resources like networks, access, insight. that working life grants.
What’s your take?

ProG + You

Join us!

We want you to join us. We only have one condition: a willingness to generously give - your time, passion, thoughts and ear. There is no maximum or minimum anything. Show up, be present. That’s it. After each weekend, your are welcome to come back. Or decide not to. But to give you an idea: a good 50% of ProGsters come back to experience it again.

OK, for real: who’s behind this initiative?
A bunch of people (with no specific affiliation) that are curious + want to leave behind a better world. That means a lot of things to a lot of different people, and that makes our group so interesting: people join us from all over the world, from the Netherlands to Latvia and from Germany to Argentina; students, entrepreneurs, young professionals and non-profit people alike.

I am really not good with new people and I don’t know anyone there.
Let us surprise you. And you, us. We are a friendly bundle. If you are curious, drop a line and see if you like how we reply. Alternatively: bring a friend of yours. The more the merrier.

I only know about weird niche things. Or: I just don’t have something to add, I don’t know all that much.
If you are passionate about something, then others might be to. Try us, we are a curious bunch! Otherwise, you are bound to discover a thing or two from other ProGsters, if you come. A good listener is a cool thing to have, too!

I don’t think we can change anything at all – this generation or otherwise. This all sounds pointless.
Really? Then come, and tell us all about it. As long as you’re willing to listen, too.

I don’t have time for that. Got anything for me regardless?
If you seriously can’t make it this time - drop us your details and will give you a heads-up for next round! Or look at this video – that is a solid thing, too.

Events

What really happens at ProG events

After successful ProG weekends in Bonn (DE), Gouvy (BE), Schwedt (DE), Handeloh (DE), and Ede (NL), we're now preparing for our sixth weekend in Schwedt (DE), in August!

We use the open space methodology to create a dynamic of connecting & sharing, charging up & firing action. What really happens is a weekend of workshops, talks, and developing the occasional project. We believe in creating an honest moment, a positive experience, an embracing crowd. We try to meet in an open, inviting and generous atmosphere to inspire each other.

We have been playing with this concept for over than five years already. At each event, more than 90% say they felt comfortable with the structure and people. In an open space concept, we provide a structure that offers time slots to hold a talk or workshop. The crowd fills these slots up. Topic and methodology are free.

Out of more than 50 topics so far, these are some things that fascinated us:
■  What are the morals for the new millennium?
■  How to turn procrastination into a useful habit?
■  How to seed-bomb a Mathematics Faculty? (Been there - done that.)
■  Data – the new resource for the next industrial revolution?
■  Dance like a latino, stretch like a yoga master, eat like you mean it.
■  10 business ideas that you can realise today.
■  The frontiers of our generation.
■  How to turn around the business model of my privacy (data).
■  And lots lots more!

Do you need to fill a slot, too? No, it is optional! Usually, 40-50% of the ProGsters fill the slots – but no worries, the concept could accommodate close to a 100% as well. We are flexible like that, baby. We also make no prescription about preparation. You just worry about quality. Some step forward spontaneously, others prepare at home.

Practical

Come, you’re welcome! Join us! It’s easy!

Where will the next event(s) be?
We are constantly planning new ones, if you don’t want to miss out, then sign up for our updates! This is what currently is in the pipeline:
• Schwedt (close to Berlin), Germany, 21-23 August 2015

What are the accommodation arrangements?
Accommodation (and food) is included in the participation costs. We usually offer bedrooms for 2-4 people, and we consider personal relationships and gender. No luxury hotels, but also no survival training.

Sounds fantastic, but I probably can’t afford this...
We operate at a non-for-profit basis. So you pay what we pay. We try to keep costs low. You’ll have to take care of transport, but other than that you can expect a maximum cost of <€90,- for food and accommodation for two and a half days. If money is an issue, we will make it a non-issue.

How will I get to the event? Do you organize transport?
You have the freedom to travel as you wish. We don’t organize your transport. But we like making things as easy as possible, so we will make sure that it is manageable to get to our venues. No adventure travels here.

Sounds good, but I have a difficult diet.
Welcome to the family. Seriously, we're one big bunch of eaters like you. No biggie.

I’ld love to come but I have children to look after...
Bring’em along! You wouldn’t be the first, you know...

What do I need to bring?
You’ll be briefed per event. It’s all pretty standard, though!

Do I have to attend all these events? Can I attend more than one event?
You are overthinking this. You want to join us? Great! Come, whenever, wherever and as often as you want!

Hmh, this all sounds sensible, I might be appropriately excited. Where do I sign up?
You can register for our updates below. Once you do, you'll get an email with information on how to register for one of our upcoming events. You commit to the event, when we receive your payment (information to follow per e-mail!).
